The Second Amendment Protection Act
Prohibit federal red flag laws, block any national gun registry, and affirm the right of law-abiding Americans to carry firearms for self-defense.
The Problem
The federal government has repeatedly attempted to circumvent the Second Amendment through red flag laws that deny due process, universal background check proposals designed to create a gun registry, and bans on commonly owned firearms. Each of these measures punishes law-abiding citizens while doing nothing to stop criminals.
Our Proposal
The Second Amendment Protection Act would prohibit the federal government from enacting or funding red flag laws, explicitly ban the creation of any federal database of gun owners, affirm the right of law-abiding citizens to carry firearms across state lines, and preempt any federal regulation that bans specific firearms based on cosmetic features.
Key Benefits
- Protects the constitutional rights of law-abiding gun owners
- Prevents the creation of a federal gun registry that could enable confiscation
- Ensures due process before any firearm can be seized
- Affirms that the Second Amendment means what it says
